Valorant player Lakia falls victim to hackers: Account sold for $10

Former Gen.G and DRX player Lakia revealed that his VALORANT account was hacked and sold on an online marketplace for just $10. He shared the news during a conversation on Discord.

Someone hacked my account and sold it through a website. And for just $10, despite it having the VCT Masters Shanghai title.

Lakia stated. According to him, the account was sold after cheats had been used on it. The player is currently working with Riot Games to regain access to the account.

Cases of account hacks through phishing sites are on the rise. Hackers lure users to fake websites under the guise of offering free skins, where users unknowingly enter their credentials. Passwords are then immediately changed, and accounts fall into the hands of hackers.

Compromised accounts are often used for testing cheats. Many account owners only recover their accounts after they are banned for violations. Riot Games recently reported that 4% of accounts banned for cheating had been hacked and were exonerated following investigations.

The reasons behind Lakia account hack remain unclear. The low selling price suggests the attack was part of a mass scheme rather than a targeted action against the well-known player. Riot Games continues to work on restoring the account.
