Today, the team that will complete the roster for the Convergence 2023 event, taking place from December 14 to 17 in Bangalore, India, has been revealed. True Rippers secured the top spot in the Convergence 2023 qualifiers and will compete among world-class stars.
The team faced challenges, especially as their head coach, Philip “Aryu” Vergara, left the ranks closer to the start of the qualifiers, which could have had a significant impact on the team. However, this did not happen. The team had a strong start, winning their first match against Grayfox Esports and advancing further in the tournament bracket.
Their next encounter was against the future finalists, Reckoning Esports, who sent True Rippers to the lower bracket of the tournament. The match was intense, but Reckoning Esports secured the victory with a 2-0 score, ensuring their place in the grand finals.
In the losers' bracket, True Rippers faced Grayfox Esports, ready to redeem themselves for the early defeat in the tournament. Despite the challenge posed by this match for both teams, True Rippers stayed resilient and carved their way into the grand finals, closing it with a 2-1 score.
Finally, in the last showdown of the Convergence 2023 qualifiers, TR once again clashed with RE, but this time they did not concede. Despite a previous 0-2 defeat, the team managed to overcome their opponent and conclude the battle with a 3-2 score.
Convergence 2023 will be extremely beneficial for them, as they are set to compete against five invited VCT teams before the start of the next Challengers South Asia season.
