Team Secret lose playoff chances, while BOOM Esports secure top spot in Group Alpha at VCT 2025: Pacific Stage 1

On April 12, Team Secret officially lost their chance to reach the playoffs of VCT 2025: Pacific Stage 1 after falling to Nongshim RedForce. Meanwhile, BOOM Esports claimed the top spot in Group Alpha following their victory over DRX.

Nongshim RedForce vs Team Secret

For Team Secret, this was their last opportunity to keep playoff hopes alive — a win over NS was crucial. However, the team failed to deliver the necessary level of performance. The match started on Pearl (NS’s pick), where Team Secret won the first half but completely collapsed in the second — 13:10 in favor of Nongshim RedForce. Split (TS’s pick) turned into a disaster for Team Secret: only three rounds won in the first half and a crushing 13:3 defeat. For NS, this was their second win in four matches, and they still maintain a decent shot at qualifying for the playoffs.

DRX vs BOOM Esports

The second match of the day was much more intense. Both teams had already secured their playoff spots but were fighting for first place in the group. It all started with a surprising map exchange: Icebox, picked by DRX, was won by BOOM Esports 13:8. On Haven, the teams fought evenly, and DRX managed to take the win only in overtime. Everything was decided on the third map — Ascent. DRX started strong, winning the first half, but could only secure one round in the second. BOOM Esports closed the map 13:8 and won the series 2:1.
