The problems on the Valorant Tier 2 scene have never gone away, and they are only getting worse as 2025 begins. Today it became known that the Egyptian organization Team Occupy will not participate in the current competitive season due to the lack of prize money for previous seasons.
Details of the situation
An important message appeared on the team's official social media today. In it, representatives of Team Occupy stated that they have not yet received payments for 2023, and the amount of payments is approximately $8,000.
Team Occupy has decided not to participate in this season of Valorant due to Riot Games not paying us our financial obligations for the 2023 season, which currently total approximately $8,000+. Despite numerous promises, Riot Games continues to avoid communication and delay payments, demonstrating an unprofessional approach, especially towards teams from the Middle East, who are consistently treated unfairly compared to other regions.
The organization also stated that Riot did not pay prize money not only to them, but also to many other teams who are afraid to talk about it. Because of this, tier 2 and tier 3 events are mostly attended by ordinary mixed teams, not professional organizations.
This problem concerns not only us - all the teams have unpaid funds, but most are afraid to talk about it. As a result, the tournament is now mostly filled with “mix teams” rather than professional organizations, which clearly demonstrates the negative impact of poor governance on the quality of the competition.

During 2023, the team made decisions in several tournaments. Among them: Gamemode 2023 where he earned $648 for the 4th place, 8th place at VALORANT Challengers 2023 MENA: Resilience Split 2 - Levant and North Africa, which brought the team $600, and several other events.
So far, Riot Games has not responded to the accusations from Team Occupy, but in the comments, readers mostly support the Egyptian organization and demand a response from Riot. Keep following our portal to learn more about the situation with the prize money at the Valorant Tier 2 stage.
