On January 18, the final of the four competitive Valorant regions, Pacific, kicked off with the VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff tournament. Two matches took place, featuring two new teams in the franchised VCT league. The highlights of this matchday are summarized in this article.
T1 vs. BOOM Esports
The first competitive day in the Pacific region began with a tense match between T1 and BOOM Esports. A game that initially promised to be one-sided turned out to be unexpectedly challenging. BOOM Esports, to the surprise of the entire Valorant community and their fans, put up a good fight on their map pick, Pearl, taking 11 rounds. They even won the opponent's map pick, Bind. However, T1 regrouped on the decider map, secured the final map, and won the match 2:1.
Nongshim RedForce vs. ZETA Division
Another team that entered VCT this year through Ascension delivered much better results. Nongshim RedForce managed to defeat the revamped ZETA Division roster without any issues. Split and Haven were added to their tally with a 13:9 scoreline. As a result, they advance to face DRX on January 20, while ZETA Division awaits their opponent in the tournament's lower bracket.
The VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff takes place from January 18 to February 9 in a LAN format at the Sangam Colosseum arena in Seoul, South Korea. Twelve partnered teams from the VCT program will compete for two invitations to the Masters Bangkok tournament and crucial Pacific Points needed for World Championship qualification.
