Sexism Issue in Valorant - Professional Teams Refuse to Play with Women

Recently, renowned journalist Rod “Slasher” Breslau visited the stream of VCT league commentator Sean Gares. The main topic of discussion was the professional esports player - Melanie "meL" Capone and her statement that many tier-1 teams refused to play with her, simply because she is a woman.

During the broadcast, Slasher reported that meL tried to participate in joint trainings with male tier-1 teams, but more often than not, she was unable to due to sexist remarks from other players.

"She tried to train with first-tier teams several times, and each time in every team there was at least one player [a man] who said they did not want to play with a woman. And so, she did not even reach the trial stage," Slasher explained.

Recall that Melanie "meL" Capone is one of the most famous and highly titled women in the professional Valorant scene. During her career, she won the championship title at events such as: VCT 2023: Game Changers North America Series S1 and S2, VCT 2022: Game Changers North America Series 3, and also secured a 4th place at last year's women's world championship - VCT 2022: Game Changers Championship.

The gaming community reacted negatively to this manifestation of sexism and defended the American esports player. Many well-known figures in the professional scene, including former The Guard player JonahP and Fnatic content creator meg, stated that all players who made such sexist remarks should be fired.
