"Riot slowly distancing themselves from the women's scene" - Bo Hoogland expressed his opinion about Game Changers

After the start of a new competitive season, during which Riot Games revealed details about upcoming tournaments, there is increasing discussion online regarding Game Changers. Some well-known media personalities, including Bo Hoogland, believe that the organizers are slowly starting to distance themselves from the women's Valorant scene.

The discussion began when the popular content creator and streamer, tupperware, expressed her thoughts on the Game Changers scene on her official Twitter account. She noted that lately Riot Games has not been promoting the women's scene at all and has not been giving it the attention it deserves. Bo Hoogland responded to her statement, agreeing with it and even stating that, judging from the current trend, the company is slowly abandoning Game Changers.

While these are speculations, it feels like Riot is reducing the overall promotion of Game Changers because GC teams and talents are starting to look more competitive in the Challenger qualifications. As Riot previously stated, the goal is for Game Changers talents to have the opportunity to compete in Challengers and International leagues. It is likely that we are witnessing Riot slowly distancing themselves from Game Changers.

It's worth noting that after the conclusion of the Valorant Game Changers Championship 2023, many female players from the professional scene announced their plans to leave these competitions and try their luck in the tier-2 league Challengers. One of the most prominent examples is Team Liquid Brazil, who recently failed to qualify in the closed qualifiers for VALORANT Challengers 2024 Brazil: Split 1.

For now, it is unknown how real the situation with the women's scene is and whether players and fans should be concerned. Most likely, Riot Games is not completely abandoning the women's scene but will place a greater emphasis on the Challengers league and strive to increase its inclusivity.
