Riot Games updates terms of service: Sanctions for behavior outside of the game

Riot Games has updated its Terms of Service, which will take effect on December 1st. The changes include sanctions not only for actions within the game but also for behavior outside the game, including on social media and during game content streaming.

The updated Section 7.2 of the company's Terms states that the code of conduct applies not only to in-game actions but also to user behavior when creating content related to Riot games, such as during streams or on social platforms. Specifically, if a player uses hateful language towards viewers during a stream, even if it takes place on a third-party platform, Riot Games reserves the right to impose sanctions.

The new rules also clarify that violating the code of conduct in one game may result in penalties in other Riot games. For instance, repeated use of specific expressions may lead to longer bans or even account suspension across all Riot games.

The company stated that a wide range of disciplinary measures will be applied, including temporary bans, account suspension or removal, and hardware bans. These changes also apply to users who stream or publish content related to Riot games.

The updated terms will come into effect on December 1st, and users will need to accept them in order to continue using Riot's services.
