Riot Games has faced criticism for the new schedule of the North American women's leagues

Recently, the developer announced a new season schedule for the women's leagues in North America for the year 2024. Many teams and players have voiced their discontent on their social media platforms regarding these changes. A lot of them expressed disappointment with Riot for seemingly disregarding feedback.

The 2023 World Champion, Melanie "meL" Capone, captain of the Shopify Rebellion team, stated that the current schedule contradicts everything that was previously discussed in terms of feedback. She added that this will have a detrimental impact on the development of the inclusive scene, despite the developer expressing a desire to promote this direction.

The way NA Game Changers operates in the upcoming season directly contradicts its mission statement, specifically bridging the gap between GC and the T1/T2 co-ed competition. I've tried to convey my feedback through private channels, but it seems these recent changes warrant public response. The tournament schedule, lack of communication and feedback, as well as an inconsistent automatic invitation system, discourage GC teams and organizations from participating, making it disadvantageous to compete in both circuits.

The athlete provided several examples of why the new schedule will become problematic. The first reason is the conflict between the Game Changers and North American Challengers League tournaments, as they will run almost parallel, forcing teams to choose between them. Issues with the offseason remain unresolved, and meL believes that this period should align with VCT leagues, providing players with more opportunities.

Finally, meL expressed disappointment that Riot Games seems to be ignoring the feedback she and other players have provided over the years. She urged Riot to reconsider the new changes to make them more favorable for women's esports.
