Riot Games has announced that they have decided to abandon planned changes for Deadlock’s Sonic Sensor, despite previously stated plans to enhance this ability. Ryan Kuzart, the developer responsible for agent and weapon balance, clarified that instead of improving Sonic Sensor, the company will focus on other aspects of the character.
We will be making balance changes to Deadlock soon, but they will differ from what we originally planned. We previously discussed buffing Sonic Sensor, but we’ve decided to leave this ability unchanged and focus on enhancing her other powerful abilities for players who can effectively use them.
The developer added that despite multiple attempts to improve Sonic Sensor, no suitable solution was found. However, the team has successfully developed changes that will allow players to enjoy a more engaging experience playing as Deadlock.
Deadlock, a Norwegian agent, was released in June 2023. Her abilities include a barrier net to restrict enemy space, Sonic Sensor for detecting enemies with the ability to stun them, and her ultimate ability "Annihilation," which traps enemies in a cocoon, guaranteeing a kill.
Despite its usefulness, Sonic Sensor has been regarded as less effective compared to other Sentinels due to its vulnerability and limited observation capabilities. In January 2025, the company announced plans to buff this ability, but now the decision has been made to focus on improving other aspects of Deadlock’s gameplay.
