On September 4th, Riot Games announced upcoming changes to in-game currency prices for games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, and Wild Rift. The price adjustments are related to fluctuations in global currency exchange rates and changes in the economic situation across various regions. The new prices will take effect on September 19 in several regions.
The company explained that the changes are aimed at maintaining price balance between regions to prevent abuse, such as using VPNs to purchase currency at lower prices in one region and reselling it in another. In some regions, prices will remain unchanged, while in others they will be increased or decreased to balance out.
Among the games affected by the changes, Valorant will see the most significant price increase, with in-game currency going up by 20%. League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics are expected to see a 7% increase, Legends of Runeterra will rise by 20%, and Wild Rift will see a 12% increase.
In addition to these changes, Riot Games plans to run a temporary promotion where bonuses for purchasing in-game currency will be doubled. For example, in Valorant, buying 2000 VP will grant players a bonus of 300 VP instead of the usual 150 VP. Exact dates for the promotion and price changes on servers will be announced later through the games' official social media accounts.
