Summary of the Situation

During the VCT Ascension EMEA 2024 match between MOUZ and Joblife, one of the players from the French team experienced technical issues during critical rounds on the third map. This helped MOUZ secure the win, which had no impact on their group stage standing, while for Joblife, a win would have guaranteed a playoff spot. Official Decision from Riot Games

After conducting a thorough investigation, Riot Games determined that the actions of the match officials were in accordance with the rules, as the player who disconnected was able to rejoin and finish the match. Consequences for Joblife

The final decision from Riot Games means that despite their considerable efforts throughout the season, Joblife has lost their chance to qualify for the VCT league due to technical issues affecting one of their players during the final map of the decisive match.

All the team's hard work, which was focused on securing a playoff spot, was in vain, and they now have to start from scratch in the next season. Joblife player Calvin "MAGiK" Spaaij expressed his frustration with the decision:

Sadly multiple disconnects and we were told by admin it is IMPOSSIBLE to sub someone in. So ofcourse we tried reconnecting even if he dcs 30 seconds later. Because we were not given a choice by the admin. Play with DC player, or 4v5 so we had no choice but to reconnect that's why the ruling is not making any sense.

Thank you for the time spent investigating the incident and trying to make a proper ruling. Although I don't agree you have spent time and effort on trying to fix the situation.

Conclusion

The technical issues in the match between Joblife and MOUZ proved to be decisive for the fate of the French team, as they lost their opportunity to advance to the playoffs due to a player disconnection. What’s most frustrating is that they were just two rounds away from securing their spot.
