Problems of African Players in Valorant

Recently, a discussion was created on the Reddit community of the game, where users are asking Riot Games to add an African server in Valorant. Such a proposal is due to the fact that the delay for players from Africa is 150-200ms, which makes comfortable gaming impossible.

A user with the nickname Diligent-Sand-583 created a discussion in which he talked about the conditions under which he plays Valorant. According to him, a player from South Africa cannot enjoy the game, because his ping does not usually drop below 160ms. He also emphasizes that he and his friends are often accused of ping abuse, because sometimes a large delay gives a certain advantage in the match.

I’m a South African who plays on about 160ms on average (which is my lowest latency), in games my friends and I often get called out for ping abusing in Valorant however that is not the case, we don’t have servers anywhere In Africa. In Valorant patch 6.02 riot rolled out a change to the max rewind value previously being 200ms to 140ms making the game feel laggy when moving, dying before we see the person and A LOT of shots not registering which just makes playing the game feel frustrating.

In the comments, other players support Diligent-Sand-583 and explain that since there are no African servers in the game, users must connect to European and Middle Eastern servers, which negatively affects the delay. Also, one of the participants presented a map showing the locations of the Valorant server centers.

Is Riot Boycotting Africa?

Let's recall that not only Valorant has such a problem, League of Legends also does not have African servers, even though the game is already 14 years old. LOL players even created an official petition to the developers, asking to create server centers in Africa. Despite the fact that more than 4 years have passed since its creation, Riot Games did not respond to it and did not make the game more comfortable for players from Africa.
