Tomek, the esports product manager for Valorant, shared a new development set to take effect with the upcoming Game Changers season. This change aims to improve the competitiveness of the scene, attract new clubs, or motivate the return of former ones.
On his social media, Tomek revealed an interesting innovation that also affects academy rosters in the Challengers league. Starting in 2025, every club that is part of the franchised Valorant Champions Tour league will be immune to relegation: regardless of a team's performance, it cannot leave the league.
While this change doesn’t drastically alter the scene, it could draw attention to creating academy rosters or joining the Game Changers initiative. Clubs can now rest assured that their teams, even with poor results, will receive invitations for the next season.
In our opinion, this adjustment won't significantly impact the Game Changers scene, but its effects will become evident soon. The first tournament kicks off on February 15, where teams composed of women and representatives of other marginalized gender groups will compete throughout the year for a spot in the Game Changers Championship.
