Paper Rex explained why they didn’t change their roster in the offseason

At the VALORANT Radiant Asia Invitational in China, Paper Rex, despite losing to Gen.G in their first match, secured victories over EDward Gaming and Rex Regum Qeon, earning themselves a spot in the playoffs. In an interview, the team’s head coach, alecks, explained the reasons behind not making any roster changes during the offseason.

When asked why the team didn’t rotate players, alecks mentioned that he had considered other candidates but ultimately decided against signing them due to transfer fee issues and the unique characteristics of players from different regions. He emphasized that after extensive internal discussions, the team managed to resolve any issues and continued competing with the same roster.

We’ve built very close relationships, like a family. If we win with this lineup, it will be a victory with deep meaning.
said the coach

He also added that he considered adding Korean players to the team, but difficulties with transfers and the high demand from Korean teams led to abandoning that option. Additionally, alecks highlighted the high transfer costs for players from Southeast Asia.

According to the coach, there had been some internal tensions within the team, but they were resolved after honest conversations and a short offseason break. As a result, Paper Rex decided to continue competing with their current roster.

Currently, the team consists of f0rsakeN, mindfreak, d4v41, Jinggg, and something, who, as alecks mentioned, have been playing together for over 4 years, starting from CS:GO. In the interview, he also admitted that he had considered Primmie as a potential new player, but the option fell through when Talon Esports beat them to the punch and convinced Primmie to join their team.
