Orangutan loses organizational support but intends to continue performances

Today it became known that the Orangutan team is losing organizational support. Despite this, the group has announced its intention to continue its performances under a different tag at the upcoming APAC Predator League tournament.

The Orangutan team demonstrated excellent results in the 2023 season, but it was not enough to extend the collaboration with the organization. The news site VALO2ASIA shared insights into the players' intentions to stay together in the search for a new organization to maintain their position in the Southeast Asian region.

Jai Shah, co-founder of Orangutan, shared the reasons for this decision on his Twitter account. He explained it by the lack of LAN tournaments, leading to a decrease in viewership and high salaries among the gaming staff. His statement also mentions that the return of Orangutan to the scene is still possible.

At the end of the day, we had to make a business decision, not an emotional one. We sincerely hope that the market will improve, and publishers and tournament organizers will find a way to make the ecosystem more sustainable for organizations. We will do everything possible to return to Valorant. This is a pause for us, not a complete stop.

This decision raises questions about all the achievements the team has made almost a year after its formation. The team took first places in two VALORANT Challengers 2023: South Asia splits, earning almost $50,000 in total. Afterward, they easily conquered the TEC Challenger Series 10 and Predator League 2024: India, securing top positions in the tournaments.

In the near future, the members of the former Orangutan roster will announce whether they have received sponsorship requests or player signings. To stay updated on this event, follow the news with us at bo3.gg.
