Following a disappointing performance at VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff, NRG Esports has made roster changes, benching both a starting player and their head coach in an effort to turn things around.
NRG Esports entered the 2025 season with high expectations, having signed two new players and a highly sought-after coach known for his achievements with Oxygen Esports. However, their first tournament of the year fell short of expectations, with NRG finishing in 7th-8th place, failing to secure a Masters slot or any VCT points.

With VCT’s unforgiving format, every event matters, and teams are forced to make tough decisions to stay competitive. Securing a Champions spot is crucial—not only for the prestige but also for the financial boost from in-game skin sales. In response, NRG Esports benched Andrew "Verno" Maust and head coach Malkolm "bonkar" Rench, both of whom joined the team just four months ago.
