The Spanish team, Team Heretics, is one of the most well-known and successful teams this year, but even they are not without changes. However, these changes do not concern the players but rather content creator Óscar "mixwell" Cañellas, who recently announced his departure from the team.
Mixwell's journey with Team Heretics
The 28-year-old Spanish player joined the team at the end of 2022 as a player. He spent one year there, but during that time, he was unable to secure significant trophies. His best results came at offseason events: 2nd place at the Valorant India Invitational and 5th-6th place at Red Bull Home Ground #3. The official tournaments by Riot mostly ended in defeats, such as a 17th-32nd place finish at VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo.
After such a season, mixwell announced that he would step down from his position as a player but not from the organization, becoming a team content creator and streamer. He held this role for almost a year, and yesterday, on September 16, 2024, it was officially announced that Óscar is leaving Team Heretics.
Farewell to the organization
Yesterday, the team's official social media posted a video featuring the streamer and former player himself. In it, mixwell explains that his contract has ended, and it’s time to say goodbye. He assured that his time with the Spanish team was incredible, and he will always support Team Heretics even after leaving the club. Additionally, the streamer mentioned that he plans to seek new offers for the upcoming season and is ready to consider new opportunities.
Once Heretics, always Heretics.

The departure of the streamer from the Spanish organization is, of course, a sad event for fans, but it will not affect the team's performance. The key players who made the team the strongest in the EMEA region this year remain, so there's no need to worry about Team Heretics' future.
