The regional qualifiers for VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff continue, with plenty of exciting matches still ahead. However, some teams have already bowed out following yesterday’s games, and below, we recap the results.

FURIA Esports vs. Evil Geniuses

The first match featured a clash between two underdogs, FURIA and Evil Geniuses. Both teams had disappointing performances last season and struggled at this event as well. After losing their opening matches, they found themselves in the lower bracket, fighting for survival. The match lacked significant highlights, and Evil Geniuses easily secured a 2-0 victory, eliminating their opponents.

MIBR vs. Cloud9

The second matchup was a much more intriguing battle between MIBR and Cloud9. MIBR entered as a dark horse, having struggled in the past but starting 2025 with a bolstered roster of strong players. Despite losing their first match at the event, MIBR managed to redeem themselves against Cloud9. After a tough battle across three maps, MIBR emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline, keeping their tournament hopes alive.

As a result of these matches, MIBR and Evil Geniuses advance to the next round, where they will face off on February 2 for a spot in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Cloud9 and FURIA are eliminated, finishing at the bottom of the standings and losing their chance to qualify for Masters Bangkok.

VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff is taking place from June 16 to November 8 in a LAN format at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles, USA. Twenty-five partnered teams from the VCT program are competing for two spots at the Masters Bangkok tournament and crucial Americas Points, which are vital for securing qualification for the World Championship.
