Meiy from DetonatioN FocusMe: Success story in the new episode of Riot Games Homegrown

Riot Games has released a new episode of its popular documentary series "Homegrown," which focuses on outstanding players from various regions participating in VCT Pacific. In the latest, sixth episode, attention is given to a player from the DetonatioN FocusMe team known as Meiy.

The 21-year-old player began his career in 2020 as a member of the amateur team Nester competing in Valorant tournaments. He later joined the Valorant division of Northeption and even managed to secure third place in the national tournament in his first year.

A pivotal moment in his career was the struggle for the last slot to participate in Champions at the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) in October 2021. Together with the NTH team, they were able to overcome many opponents but, unfortunately, lost in the finals.

The documentary also delves into Meiy personal life and motivations. His five-year-older brother had a significant influence on his passion for computer games, and his mother recalls a time when she threw the computer out of the window in anger at them.

Currently, DetonatioN FocusMe represents Japan at the VCT 2024 Pacific Stage 1 tournament, with Meiy considered one of the best players in the region. Stage 2 of the VCT 2024 Pacific tournament will begin on June 15, where Meiy and his team will once again try to prove their dominance.
