Mary leaves G2's female roster and ends her career

G2 organization has announced that Maryam "Mary" Maher is leaving G2 Gozen and ending her career as a player. In this article, we will look at who will replace her and what successes can be expected from the team in the future.

A very strange decision for a player since the team is the champion of the EMEA region and has every chance to make it to the world championship. Neither the organization nor Maryam "Mary" Maher herself report the reason for such a strange decision.

Mary's Career

Maryam "Mary" Maher began her career in 2021 with the Chat Banned team. After successful performances, she was invited to G2, where she played for more than a year. Throughout her career, she earned more than $40,000 and won tournaments like the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Game Changers Championship and VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Stage 1.

Who will replace Mary?

Maryam "Mary" Maher benched herself almost 2 months ago, and since then, Sarah "Sarah" Ahmed, who was a substitute player, replaced her. In the upcoming tournaments, G2 Gozen will continue to play with Sarah.

Current G2 Gozen lineup:

  • Michaela "mimi" Lintrup
  • Petra "Petra" Stoker
  • Anastasiya "Glance" Anisimova
  • Vivian "roxi" Schilling
  • Sarah "sarah" Ahmed
  • Robertas "Carcass" Mikuckis (coach)

Sarah's future in the team

Even after the team changed the main player to a substitute, it did not affect the results. The team managed to win the VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Series 2 and continues to dominate in the EMEA region, so it's unlikely that Sarah will be replaced in the near future.

Next tournament for G2 Gozen

The next tournament for the team will be VCT 2023: Game Changers EMEA Series 3, which will start very soon, on August 11th. The team will compete for a ticket to the world championship and points in case of a defeat in the tournament, which will help them rise in the rankings. Details regarding dates, team composition, and live broadcasts can be found at the link on the tournament page.
