Leo Faria, head of Valorant's esports department, responded to the first-ever Game Changers player transfer to VCT and outlined the main goals of the Game Changers project.
The head of Valorant’s esports department emphasized that creating a separate sport for women was never the main goal of Game Changers. The project was conceived as a stepping stone for players who want to hone their skills, make a name for themselves in the world, and earn the opportunity to showcase their level of play in the Valorant Champions Tour. This is exactly what happened with Ava "florescent" Eugene and Apeks during this transfer window.
Creating a separate sport for women was never the goal. Game Changers was always meant to be a stepping stone, a place for players to hone their skills, to be seen, and eventually be given an opportunity in the main circuit.
On December 5, rumors were confirmed about Ava "florescent" Eugene’s transfer to Apeks, a partner team this year that will participate in VCT 2025. This marks the first time in Valorant's history that a Game Changers player will participate in the main Valorant Champions Tour league.
We know it'll take a long time to achieve this vision, and there's a chance we'll never be done, but seeing it starting to materialize is very special. Huge kudos to florescent and Apeks for making history!
Leo Faria is one of Valorant’s supporters and, in response to a suggestion to create a league exclusively for women to provide them with a fair environment for development, he gave a clear and categorical answer: "No."

We will be able to see florescent’s debut on the Valorant Champions Tour stage in mid-August at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025: EMEA Kickoff, where the Apeks team will compete for EMEA points and two slots for Masters Bangkok.
