Gen.G considered signing aspas for VCT Pacific 2025

Gen.G CEO, Arnold Von Hur, revealed that the organization had considered signing Brazilian player Eric "aspas" Santos for the VCT Pacific 2025 tournament. This decision was made before aspas signed with MIBR.

In an interview with the Spiketalk podcast, Arnold shared that after aspas became a free agent, Gen.G seriously considered signing him. However, the organization faced several challenges that ultimately prevented the deal from happening.

We saw that he became a free agent after the events with BLEED, and we thought he was an exceptional player. We were ready to make an effort to sign him, but despite having the budget, we couldn't reach a decision.
Arnold noted

He also added that although signing aspas could significantly improve aspects such as fan base, merchandise sales, and sponsorships, there were difficulties in integrating him into the team. The main issue was how aspas would fit into Gen.G system, as well as language barriers within the team.

It was an interesting project, and maybe we would have invested in it. But we understood that it would introduce serious challenges into the system we already believe in. Perhaps we’ll revisit this issue next year.
Arnold concluded

As a result, Gen.G decided against signing aspas, despite the team's efforts.
