On January 17, the Brazilian esports organization FURIA announced that due to visa issues, all players from its VALORANT team will be unable to participate in the opening match of VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff. In response, the team urgently invited five North American players to take part in the match.
FURIA explained in a recent statement that while they, like other Brazilian teams, began the visa process in November last year, official approval was only received on January 11, which left the team unprepared for the opening match. Teams LOUD and MIBR had already received their visas and moved to Los Angeles, while FURIA's process was delayed because the U.S. authorities requested additional documentation.
