Former NRG head coach receives sanction from Riot and is banned from the professional scene

Players and other participants in the highest competitive division of VCT rarely break Riot Games' rules, but even they can occasionally make mistakes. Late last night, the company issued a decision regarding American coach Chet "Chet" Singh, banning him from the competitive scene until the end of Masters Bangkok 2025.

What the Coach is Accused Of

An important announcement appeared today on Riot Games' official social media and website. The company stated that it had concluded its investigation into Chet "Chet" Singh, the former head coach of NRG. He was accused of showing viewers confidential VoD footage protected by Riot Games' copyright on his stream on July 31, 2024, without proper authorization.

Chet violated Riot Games' Global Esports Code of Conduct by broadcasting the VoD, access to which depended on his status as a head coach in the VCT. His access to the content was unauthorized, and sharing it on July 31, 2024, breached Riot's confidentiality policies. Chet did not obtain permission from Riot Games, NRG, or other involved teams to stream the VoDs and internal communications on his personal channels.

It was revealed that during his stream, Chet showed in-game messages between NRG team members, internal team discussions, and conversations between players and coaches. At the time of the stream, Chet was no longer part of NRG, having left the organization two weeks earlier.

The coach admitted his fault and apologized to his former teammates and his audience on his Twitter account.

Chet’s Punishment

Following an extensive investigation, Riot Games released its verdict today. According to the company, Chet violated key confidentiality policies, and his punishment will be a ban from the Valorant competitive scene until the conclusion of Masters Bangkok 2025.

The event will kick off in February 2025 and run until March 1, meaning that Chet will be unable to participate in any Valorant-related esports activities for the next five months.

In his official social media statement, Chet expressed his disagreement with the punishment, arguing that his actions did not cause harm to anyone. He stated that he will continue streaming Valorant until the Riot ban is lifted.
