Fnatic’s press conference before the grand final: “If we cry again, it’s going to be because of happiness”

After their victory against DRX in the lower bracket final at VALORANT Champions 2025, Fnatic secured their spot in the grand final, where they will face NRG for the world championship title. During the post-match press conference, the players and coach reflected on their journey throughout the season, the emotions of returning to the biggest stage, and the mindset driving them toward one last shot at the trophy.

After the final map, Boaster spoke about his spontaneous dance moments on stage and how they’ve become a symbol of confidence for Fnatic.

Honestly, I don't even know what was going on at one point. I'm doing some breakdancing on the floor, and I'm just like, ah, we'll just roll with it, I guess. But we'll see. We'll see. I'm sure there’ll be dancing because whenever I'm dancing, we're winning. So maybe that's something we're cooking there.

Reflecting on his career and evolution since his last grand final in 2021, Chronicle shared how much both he and the game have changed over the years.

My last grand final wasn’t in 2021 but at Champions. It’s been four years. I had a different role and different responsibilities in my previous team, Gambit. Now I’m a kind of rock for the team. It’s hard to explain how much this game has changed. Everyone can see it — even just by reading patch notes. Many players have already passed their prime, and I’m still keeping up, playing at a high level. This has probably been one of the craziest years for me. Reaching an international grand final with great performance is something I’m proud of. Tomorrow, it doesn’t really matter how I play individually — what matters is that we come in with the right mindset. We expect everything and nothing at the same time. We’ll enter the grand final in a good mood.

Chronicle also looked back on his celebration moment during the match and how one risky decision almost cost them a round.

That will probably be my last time standing up because on Viper I have to run across the map to throw lineups, and I spent ten seconds of the pre-round hyping up the crowd — which could’ve been a big mistake. Thankfully, we still won that round. It started badly, but winning that crucial bonus round stopped them from coming back into the series. It was a very big round for us.

Crashies discussed how he handled emotions when facing his former team and what he learned heading into the grand final rematch.

It wasn’t really nerves, more like anxiety. I was excited to play them, and I let it affect me a bit too much. I’m glad it happened because I learned a lot. Going into the grand final rematch, I know what to expect now. There’s no fun to be had — we’re there to handle business. I’ll focus on us, and whatever happens, happens.

Asked whether playing against his former teammate s0m gives him extra motivation, Crashies emphasized focus over sentiment.

Not really. It’s cool to play against a former teammate and a good friend, but it’s just another team in our way. We’re going to focus on ourselves, and whatever happens, happens.

Boaster shared the story behind his viral post-match “promo” and why he decided to do it despite second thoughts.

It makes good TV, doesn’t it? I thought, “That would make a great TikTok if we end up winning.” I was in bed last night listening to my audiobook — I always put on Fantastic Mr. Fox when I need to sleep. I had a lot of adrenaline, so I couldn’t sleep. I started thinking: if I do an interview tomorrow, maybe I’ll say, “We’re coming for NRG.” It could be cool… maybe a bit cringe. In the moment I thought, “Should I go for it? Yeah, why not?” You only get to do it once, and this could be my last grand final ever. You just have to live every moment and have fun.

Looking back on the journey, Boaster opened up about the motivation that kept him going through losses and how he hopes this final will end in joy.

Every time we lost at Champions, I stayed until the end to watch someone lift the trophy I want most. That kept my hunger and drive alive. A lot of players could ease out, but I just wanted one more big win with the boys. This year has been amazing — many grand finals, though we didn’t win an international one yet. There’s a trophy on the line, but above all, we’re having fun. When we enjoy the game, like today, the pressure fades away. If we win tomorrow, great. If not, we’ve already had heartbreaking losses this year. My goal is simple — I want to see my teammates’ tears of joy this time.

Alfajer recalled what it felt like to miss a match and experience the stress of watching his team from the sidelines.

I also tweet, so I’m sorry to all the fans watching. It was so stressful. When I’m on stage, I feel maybe 20% stress, but watching is like 90%. If I were a Fnatic fan, I’d have gray hair in a year. I’ll try to make tomorrow as easy as possible for you all.

Reflecting on his rookie season, kaajak explained why finishing second isn’t enough for him and his goal remains the championship.

It feels good to reach so many international finals in my rookie year. It’s insane. But second place means nothing. We need to win eventually, and I think tomorrow is the day.

Boaster closed by sending a message to Chinese fans and referencing the symbolic connection between him and Doinb.

Dà bǐ shòu wǒmen(We are Great B - chinese) — does that make sense? We also want to be champions. Maybe I messed that up, maybe I shouldn’t have spoken Chinese. But to all our Chinese fans, xièxie nǐmen de zhīchí(thank you for your support - chinese). ZmjjKK was the champion before, and I feel like he passed the torch to me when he gave me his gift. I remember watching him last year and feeling so happy for him. I thought, “I have to do it too.” There are so many coincidences at this tournament. Whatever happens, I just want to have fun tomorrow.
