Florescent faced negative comments after winning at the VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship

After the conclusion of the women's world championship, won by the women's team Shopify Rebellion, one of the main roster members faced negative comments. The day after the grand final, a well-known esports commentator made a transphobic statement concerning Florescent and the women's Valorant scene.

It's worth noting that the winner of the VCT 2023: Game Changers Championship was the women's team Shopify Rebellion, whose roster consists of former Version1 players. Interestingly, one of the team members, Ava "florescent" Eugene, a 17-year-old transgender esports player, responded to the transphobic statement. Professional Counter Strike commentator, Auguste “Semmler” Massonat, made a statement in his Twitter account concerning the women's Valorant scene. He said that this had happened in CS, and he was not surprised that the Riot Games shooter had followed suit. Florescent reacted by stating that she used to be a fan of Semmler but is now saddened to follow him.

I used to be your fan when I was younger. Seeing the person you portray and who you have become over the past few years is very sad. You are more than twice my age and yet behave like a child on the internet all day. I'm not one to hate, but I genuinely feel sorry for the minorities/LGBT/NCT you've had to work with in your career. I'm sure you don't care, but I wonder what they think of you now. Please look in the mirror; fanaticism and sexism are usually not considered cool.

Ava "florescent" Eugene, along with her team, won the world championship and even set a new record for the number of kills. In her response to Semmler, she stated that although she cannot currently compete in the highest competitive league of Valorant due to her age, she will definitely move there after becoming of age and show excellent results.

Ava was also supported by other well-known figures in the Valorant esports space and other disciplines. They stated that such offensive words are unacceptable for a media person and advised the commentator to apologize to everyone he offended.
