Cross-platform in Valorant? - Riot Games opens position for Technical Manager

Recently, Riot Games announced the opening of recruitment for their Valorant development team. After the job posting and its responsibilities were announced, the gaming community began to speculate that the developers plan to integrate cross-platform play into their game.

On their official website, Riot Games posted a job listing for a Valorant Technical Product Manager. Fans of the game were intrigued by a section stating that the new technical manager would need to ensure that players on all three platforms feel comfortable.

As a Technical Product Manager in the VALORANT Build Systems team, you will manage the strategy and operations of services, tools, and processes that allow us to continuously create and release our product for developers and players. As we move towards a multi-platform future, your work will be crucial in ensuring that players on PC, mobile devices, and consoles can fully enjoy the world of VALORANT.

Following this, the Valorant community began theorizing that Riot Games is preparing the shooter for a console release. Additionally, players speculate that the developers plan to introduce cross-platform support, which most readers reacted negatively to. The main reason for user opposition to cross-platform play is the aim assist available to console players. In all cross-platform shooters like Apex Legends, Warzone, Fortnite, players using controllers receive system assistance in targeting enemies, automatically keeping the crosshair on the enemy model. Valorant fans worry that this will also appear in Riot Games' shooter in the future.

There is no official confirmation of this theory yet, so it's possible that the new technical manager will simply ensure that the shooter is consistent across phones and gaming consoles with the PC version. Furthermore, as of today, Valorant has not yet been released on gaming consoles, so there is no cause for panic. Rumors suggest that in 2023, Riot Games was supposed to port their project to consoles, but nothing is known about this yet.
