brawk becomes NRG’s fifth player, while Mikes takes over as Valorant head coach

A few hours ago, NRG Esports announced changes to its Valorant roster, moving head coach Malkolm "bonkar" Rench and core player Andrew "Verno" Maust to the bench. Now, the organization has revealed their replacements.

The team’s new player is Brock "brawk" Somerhalder, who joined Shopify Rebellion Black just a month ago and played only four matches with them. Now, he steps up to a higher level and will compete in the VCT with NRG Esports instead of the Challengers League, where he had played for three consecutive years.

For the head coach position, NRG Esports has chosen Michael "Mikes" Hockom, who previously served as both an assistant and head coach for 100 Thieves. He helped the team qualify for Champions 2022 and Masters Shanghai 2024, where 100 Thieves finished in fourth place. Mikes' biggest achievement as a coach remains his second-place finish at VALORANT Masters Berlin 2021 with Team Envy.

NRG Esports' next tournament will be VCT 2025: Americas Stage 1, set to take place in Los Angeles at the Riot Games Arena. The event will run from March to May, though the exact dates have yet to be confirmed. The tournament will offer three spots for the second Masters of the year and valuable ranking points for the teams.
