BlackWiz leaves the substitute role and officially joins VARREL

Late last night, the Japanese esports organization VARREL announced on its Twitter account a new addition to its Valorant team. Kohei "BlackWiz" Mikami, a former Northeption member currently serving as a substitute for VARREL, has officially joined the current roster of the Japanese team.

Kohei "BlackWiz" Mikami is a 26-year-old professional player who has been competing on the Tier-2 Valorant scene since 2020. Throughout his career, he has only been a part of three clubs, the most notable of which was Northeption. With them, Kohei managed to break into the top league due to his successful performance during 2022 and took part in the VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen. However, the results were not very favorable, leading to the team finishing in 9th-10th place.

This season also hasn't brought any notable victories for BlackWiz and the team. Both stages of the Valorant Challengers 2023: Japan Split ended with 5th-6th placements, after which he was moved to the inactive roster, from where he transitioned to VARREL. For the past 10 days, he played as a substitute during the ongoing Red Bull Home Ground #4 - Japanese Qualifier. But even after the team left the qualifiers in 5th-8th place, the organization still decided to sign BlackWiz to the main roster.
