Agent Neon sparks controversy among pro players: Zekken and BuZz call for nerf

Due to the lack of changes to Neon balance in the recent 9.09 patch, players are expressing dissatisfaction with the agent’s strong attributes. Among the critics is Zekken from Sentinels, who sarcastically commented on the current state of the meta.

On his X page, Zekken wrote, “Because of agents like Neon or the old Chamber, even bad players seem effective”, emphasizing that the meta allows newcomers and less experienced players to succeed with minimal effort. He also added, “In two years, everyone will say this was a ‘unique and diverse meta”, ironically criticizing the current situation.

Neon is a duelist with high mobility, capable of sprinting, sliding, and using an ultimate that releases electrical bursts. After a significant buff in the 8.11 patch in June this year, which included a sprint speed increase and crosshair stabilization during slides, the agent has become one of the strongest in the game.

Zekken, who used Neon at the SEN City Classic tournament in Los Angeles, posted an impressive K/D ratio of 1.61. Another well-known player, BuZz from T1, also chose Neon at the Red Bull Home Ground 2024 APAC tournament in Japan, commenting that “Neon is OP” and stating his support for a character nerf. However, he emphasized that T1 would continue to use Neon until the nerf is applied.

While fans are calling for changes, the developers’ plans for tweaking Neon remain unknown. Balancing adjustments for other agents are expected in the offseason patch, but a Nerf for Neon has not yet arrived.
