On January 25 (Japanese time), during the VCT Americas 2025 Kickoff tournament, 100 Thieves faced NRG Esports and lost 1:2, marking the end of their tournament run.

During the off-season, 100T's roster remained mostly unchanged. Bang departed for Sentinels, and Zander was brought in from M80 to fill his spot. However, despite these minimal changes, the team faced challenges, including losses to amateur teams in preseason tournaments, which raised doubts ahead of the new season.

In their opening match of the tournament, 100 Thieves confidently defeated MIBR with scores of 13:4 and 13:9. However, in their second match against Sentinels, after winning the first map, the team faltered and lost the remaining ones. Their match against NRG started strong but once again ended in defeat, despite securing the first map.

Team owner Nadeshot expressed his disappointment on X (formerly Twitter):

I share your frustration with the results of our VALORANT team. It feels like we're just stuck in place. Year after year, it's the same story, but things clearly aren’t improving. We need to find a solution as soon as possible. Something needs to change.

 

Potential Roster Changes

It’s worth noting that three years ago, following a similar post, Nadeshot made the drastic decision to cut two players after just two matches. This could indicate that roster changes may also be in store this time.

The roles of players Asuna and Cryo remain quite specific, complicating the reorganization process. However, community discussions have often highlighted the potential replacement of Boostio. His current tournament stats (ACS 138.0 and K/D 0.68) have been underwhelming. Considering Zander’s experience as an IGL, such a move seems plausible.
