Although Valorant is a first-person shooter, unlike its competitors, it plays a big role in the game's lore and story. Each of the 27 agents has an interesting story and third-party characters about whom little is known. Riot Games recently introduced one of them to the Valorant lore with the latest update. Today, we have prepared an article for you to tell you who Mary is, a new non-player character in Valorant.

Who is Mary?
Mary, whose full name is Mary Adeyemi, is a non-player character in Valorant, and also the sister of Phoenix, who figured in his life at a time before he officially became a Valorant agent. In fact, Riot Games rarely focuses on secondary characters, but this time is an exception.

What we know about Mary
For the first time, mentions of Phoenix's younger sister appeared a few weeks ago, before the release of patch 10.07. As always, Riot Games published a part of the game's lore in the form of a letter from one of the agents. This time it was Phoenix, who gets permission to correspond with his sister Mary.
Your request for external communication with M. Adeyemi has been approved. For security reasons, all communications are subject to mandatory monitoring. For more information, please contact Cypher.
Recently, in patch 10.09, new details of the situation have appeared. Riot Games published a voice message in which Phoenix leaves a message to his sister on her voicemail. In it, he apologizes for not answering the phone for a long time and asks about her affairs.
Yo sis, you keep reminding me of the past and getting mad at me for not calling, sorry about that. I wanted to call earlier, but you know how it is. I hope you're doing well in Lagos, and give my regards to Aunt Bukky. When we last spoke, were you home in London?...Uff no, it was 100 years ago, and I promised my mom I would visit her, but my head is a mess, probably because of work. I think about you often, it would be cool to talk to you again. How are you doing with your music, have you become a superstar? I want to know everything, call me back.

As the voice message makes clear, the agent and his sister don't keep in touch often, and it's all because of Phoenix's busy schedule. We can also assume Mary whereabouts and her occupation.
Known information
- Full name: Mary Adeyemi
- Gender: Female
- Сity of residence: London
- Occupation: Teaching and making music
- Relationships: Jamie Adeyemi
- Age: Approximately 15-18
Although Phoenix talked about music in his voice message, we assume that his sister Mary is not a professional performer. First of all, his question “has she become a superstar yet?” suggests this. Which hints at her amateur skills and the beginning of her career. Also, one of the images shows the agent with his sister, and as it becomes clear, she is much younger than him.

Information from the developers
It is also worth noting that Riot Games representatives told us about Mary. When information about her appeared, many players assumed that she could be the next agent, but this is not the case. The creative director of Riot, David Nottingham, denied this information and stated that Mary would not be a playable character.
I want to clarify: Mary will not become our agent. We don't plan to make her a playable character, but we are very excited to introduce her into the story.
David also assured us that it is thanks to Mary that we will learn more about the history of Phoenix himself and follow his development as a character. We will see the sister more often in the future, and all the details will be revealed by the end of the 2025 season.

To conclude, Mary Adeyemi will not be a playable character or a new agent in Valorant. She exists only as part of the game's lore and will develop the story of her brother, Agent Phoenix.
