The shooter from Riot Games offers players a huge variety of weapons. Among the available equipment are pistols, shotguns, sniper and automatic rifles. In total, in Valorant, players can try their hand at 17 different types of weapons, and the community is soon expecting the release of another rifle. Among all the variety, it's hard to choose the ideal weapon, but players usually prefer two of them, the Vandal and Phantom. We'll talk about the former another time, but today the Bo3 editorial team has created a guide for you about the automatic rifle Phantom. We want our readers to learn all aspects of this weapon, and understand that it may become the ideal choice for you during your next map in Valorant.
What is the Phantom?
There probably aren't any Valorant players who haven't heard about this wonderful automatic rifle. The Phantom, a weapon that appeared with the release of the shooter itself, quickly gained popularity in the community. Although there is no official data, the rifle's appearance is very similar to the real Heckler & Koch HK433, so it can be assumed that it served as a model for the Phantom. In principle, the weapon is similar to the M4A1-S from the main competitor CS:GO and its continuation CS2, an automatic rifle with a silencer, although, in Valorant, it is not removable. It is well suited for shooting at close and medium range, and thanks to the silencer, it allows almost unnoticed neutralization of enemy devices, sensors, and the enemies themselves. Overall, the rifle is one of the most beloved in the Valorant community, second only to the Vandal.

Phantom characteristics
As we wrote above, the weapon is excellently balanced at different distances, and below we will tell you about all its characteristics. The Phantom costs 2,900 credits, making it quite expensive, but this balances the rifle itself. The weapon's damage depends on the distance and the point of impact.
Headshot damage
- 0-15 meters – 156 damage
- 15-30 meters – 140 damage
- 30-35 meters – 124 damage
Body shot damage
- 0-15 meters – 39 damage
- 15-30 meters – 35 damage
- 30-35 meters – 31 damage
Leg shot damage
- 0-15 meters – 33 damage
- 15-30 meters – 29 damage
- 30-35 meters – 26 damage
The damage rating of the Phantom is quite low compared to other automatic rifles. Among the four types of weapons, only the Bulldog has lower damage to all parts of the body, while the Vandal and Guardian have higher ratings. However, the lack of damage is compensated by other characteristics, which are greater in the Phantom. Among them is the firing rate, which in the weapon is 11 shots per second, more than the other aforementioned rifles. Also, a major advantage is the large magazine of 30 rounds, fully compensating for the lack of damage. Meanwhile, the main competitor Vandal can only fire 25 bullets without reloading.
Other characteristics of the Phantom include medium wall penetration ability, a draw speed of one second, a reload speed of 2.5 seconds, a running speed with the rifle in hand of 5.4 meters per second, and a total of 90 bullets.
Phantom features
In addition to the usual above-described characteristics, the rifle has its own features that distinguish it from others, and thanks to this, it is a favourite weapon of a large part of the Valorant community. The first and one of the most important is its almost complete silence. When shooting at a distance of 40 meters or more, enemies do not hear your gunshot sound unless it is directed towards them. With this feature, you can wonderfully control different parts of the map and kill enemy agents one by one if they do not run together. The next feature of the rifle is that the bullet tracers, left after shooting, are invisible to enemies. This gives a great advantage when using the Phantom, especially in shootouts in smokes. Thanks to it, you can boldly shoot through smoke screens, and the absence of bullet traces will not allow enemies to calculate your position.
Recommendations for playing with the Phantom
Although the rifle has quite a few features, it does not have unique usage. The strategy for winning with the Phantom is quite simple, and the same as with other types of weapons. Despite this, below we will give you a few tips on how to better use the silent rifle to achieve maximum efficiency. First of all, we advise you not to use the sight at close distances, the Phantom is quite accurate, and even without using the sight, you can shoot well. Also, at close distances, we recommend not forgetting about spraying. Unlike the Vandal, the Phantom has quite an easy-to-control spray, so we advise you not to be afraid to use it. At medium distances, the focus should be on single shots or short bursts of 3-4 shots, this will allow you to hit the enemy but not waste extra bullets as it would be with spraying. At long distances, the Phantom is not very suitable. Proportionally with the distance, the rifle loses a lot of damage and loses the chance to kill an enemy with a single accurate shot. We recommend not to engage in combat at long distances, because the enemy may be equipped with a sniper rifle. If there is no choice, then obviously you need to shoot using the sight, but also firing 1-2 bullets at a time.

Phantom vs Vandal
Now that all the characteristics of the silent rifle are known, it's time to compare it with its main competitor, the Vandal. As statistics show, most players choose the latter rifle, and all because of the advantage in damage. The fact is that the Vandal at all three distances from 0 to 50 meters inflicts 160 damage to the head. In turn, as we wrote above, Phantom only at close distances inflicts 156 damage, while at medium and long distances, the damage is 140 and 124. This means that when shooting at such distances, the Phantom has no chance to kill with a single accurate shot to the head, while the Vandal copes with this task perfectly.

We would also like to note that the debate about these two rifles has been going on in the Valorant community for a long time. Riot Games representatives were so interested in it that they even conducted their own investigation on their official website. The developers released a large article comparing all aspects of each of the rifles. The general conclusion is that the Vandal has overtaken the Phantom in popularity, but this is not a critically important indicator. The developers assure us that the ability to shoot and the weapon are not as important as the ability to read the game well and have overall gaming skills.

Now you know everything about the silent rifle Phantom. Remember that you cannot choose your favourite weapon just by guides on the Internet. You need to go to the shooting range and first try both weapons to ultimately understand which one you like more. We also recommend basing your choice on the situation, as well as the opposing agents, to fully unleash the power of the Phantom.
