Valorant recently added a new map called Abyss, which has been tested by players and included in the competitive map pool. Now, players can encounter it in competitive mode. Since the map is new, many players are asking, "Who should I play on Abyss in Valorant?" By reading this material, you will learn about more than five agents that are perfectly suited for the new map in Riot Games' shooter, helping you increase your win rate on it.
Like any other map in Valorant, Abyss has brought a new mechanic to the game. This time, it's fairly simple yet can promise a lot of positive and negative emotions not only in regular matches but also on the professional scene. On the new map, it's possible to fall from heights and die, and there are many places where this can happen accidentally, from the center of the map to the spike sites. Some agents can use their abilities to intentionally push enemies off, thus preventing them from planting or defusing the Spike.
Omen
Starting with one of the most important roles in the game, the controller, where Omen, albeit with some contention, takes the lead. Clove is close behind, currently performing very confidently in ranked games and gradually attracting the attention of professional players who select her in tournaments.
In our opinion, Omen appears more stable than Clove, thanks to a larger radius of smoke screens (Dark Cover (E)) and teleportation capabilities. With Shrouded Step (C) and From The Shadows (X), the agent can not only take unexpected positions at heights but also avoid areas where a player might fall off the map and die, creating chaos and panic in the enemy team, who will not have a clear understanding of where Omen is currently located.
Jett
The duelist position can be covered by choosing Jett, who performs well on Abyss and creates spectacular moments due to the map being quite open. Her ability, Updraft (Q), allows her several times per match to save herself from precarious situations when a player might fall off the map, and Cloudburst (C) can in some situations act as full smoke screens.
Blade Storm (X) will not only be a tool for eliminating enemies but also a help for the team in tough times. When there are not enough funds for a full buy, Jett can play a round with her ultimate ability, spending her funds on someone else.
Breach
Breach, thanks to his ultimate ability Rolling Thunder (X), instills fear in enemies on Abyss as the shock delivered by this ability can knock them off cliffs, leading to certain death. Additionally, the map has many narrow passages, making most of his abilities especially effective, forcing enemies to be anxious and constantly change their positions. If your pick includes Raze or Jett, they will become your best allies as they can quickly close in on stunned or blinded enemies due to your abilities.
Cypher
Due to the gameplay and structure of the map, Killjoy does not appear very effective in the sentinel role, so Cypher takes the lead on Abyss. His Trapwire (C), Spycam (E), and Neural Theft (X) can not only delay enemies and prevent them from advancing to a position but also help the main scout gather important information, allowing the team to better prepare for upcoming enemy actions, devising a better defensive or offensive strategy.
Sova
What would be the perfect agent selection without a scout? Exactly, it wouldn't be complete. That's why the fifth and final agent in the star lineup on Abyss is Sova. With Owl Drone (C) and Recon Bolt (E), he can gather information about the whereabouts of every enemy at a certain position. Enemies affected by negative effects from Breach's abilities become easy targets for Sova’s abilities — Shock Bolt (Q) and Hunter’s Fury (X).
The five agents listed above are the ideal choice of characters for Abyss in Valorant, as we see it. However, this doesn’t mean you must stick to this selection. Everyone has their own preferences for agents, and not always, especially playing solo, does the team want to choose what you recommend. If you're unsure who to main on the new map, you can choose one of these agents or backups, presented below.
In Valorant, there are 24 agents, so choosing a specific five is difficult. In this section, you'll find an additional list of good agents for the Abyss map.
Meta Agents
As of the time of writing, there are several agents in Valorant considered meta and are present in almost every game. However, the meta has not yet fully stabilized, so even without upcoming balance changes, it may shift. Currently, Clove has taken the lead on almost every map and is the strongest agent with the highest win rate compared to others, and ISO, whose improvements have been a fresh breath for duelist aficionados, as his gameplay is fundamentally different from other similar characters.
KAY/O
The small map and open spike sites create a paradise for KAY/O, who can effectively use FLASH/DRIVE (Q), which can blind a large area and disable enemy abilities with ZERO/POINT (E) and NULL/CMD (X), which additionally gives the hero another life after death. He can replace Breach in the star lineup and become the main initiator.
Raze
For skilled Raze players, this map can be a real treasure. However, if you are not confident in your skills, there may be many situations where using Blast Pack (Q) and Showstopper (X) will lead to you accidentally throwing yourself off a cliff and dying. On the other hand, if you are proficient with Raze, you can use these abilities not to throw yourself off but to push enemies off or quickly move around the map, creating chaos.
Gekko
Gekko serves as an alternative to Sova, offering a completely different gameplay thanks to his abilities. He feels extremely active as his abilities not only reveal enemies, blind, and stun them but can also be picked up and used again. This is highly effective, especially in prolonged rounds, when you can use the same ability 3-4 times.
The right agent choice can significantly influence your team's success on the Abyss map. Using agents such as Omen, Jett, Breach, Cypher, and Sova will ensure effective map control, reconnaissance, and tactical advantage. If this lineup isn’t to your liking, you can use additional agents with strong potential on the new map in Valorant, namely KAY/O, Raze, and Gekko. Thanks to their abilities, they can provide additional chances for your team to win. It's important to consider the features of each agent and their utility in specific situations to achieve maximum results on Abyss.
