MOUZ vs Cloud9 at BLAST Premier: World Final 2023 — match prediction and analysis

Etihad Arena will be ready to host matches with top teams as part of the BLAST Premier: World Final 2023 tomorrow, December 15. One of the series, featuring MOUZ vs. Cloud9, is set to be one of the most prestigious matches this year. Konstantin "Leninew" Sivko, a commentator at the leading Ukrainian-language studio Maincast with many years of experience, shared his predictions with Bo3.gg on who he sees as the winner here.

The teams' forms

Despite the fact that MOUZ use a stand-in in the person of Ludwig "Brollan" Brolin and lost their star riffler David "frozen" Chernyansky, it was enough for them not to take the last place at BLAST. However, Cloud9 will be the next to face them.

On paper, Cloud9 boasts solid firepower, but they failed to get out of the group at BetBoom Dacha 2023. Some may argue that the event was not a priority, but it also suggests that the captaincy of siuhy and Jimpphat's aim may not withstand the quarterfinals.

Map Pool

A comparison of the map statistics for both teams suggests that MOUZ could win at least one map. However, there's no complete picture regarding the state of preparation for maps like Inferno or Mirage, especially after frozen's departure. For Cloud9, this could be an advantage and potentially a decisive factor in this best-of-three (bo3) series.

Prediction

According to Leninew, Cloud9's current roster, having played more official matches compared to MOUZ without frozen, may have enough of an advantage to progress further in the playoffs.

It is difficult to assess the form of the teams, because in MOUZ, the top and key player of frozen finally got the golden ticket to the dream team. Cloud9 are playing without their sniper, whose departure also came as a surprise. Individually, Cloud9 are strong and have already managed to adapt to playing without sh1ro, while MOUZ did not have such an opportunity.

The outcome of the match will be unpredictable and will depend on many factors: the teams' mindset at the moment, clutch situations, map readiness, etc. C9 doesn't have a strong option for Anubis, so it will most likely be Overpass, which MOUZ plays quite mediocrely. MOUZ can choose Mirage or Inferno. Overall, C9 has an advantage because of the greater chemistry of the lineup, but it's close, maybe 60/40. It's a hard match to predict.
