Valve releases CS2 update with new anti-cheats and gameplay changes

On August 20, 2024, Valve released a new important update for Counter-Strike 2, which introduced changes to the game mechanics and started testing a new version of the anti-cheat system.

Main changes

Automation of movement and shooting: Valve has decided to take strict measures against the use of automated movements and scripts that allow players to partially automate their movement, for example, using Snap Tap technology or similar. Such scripts will now be ignored on official Valve servers, and players using hardware assistance to counter-strike will be automatically removed from the game.

Multi-input ignoring: The game will now ignore input commands that include more than one command from the following list: move forward, backward, left, right, attack, jump, crouch, and others. Support for such commands can only be restored using a special console with the cl_allow_multi_input_binds 1 command.

Jump sound: One of the minor changes, which can have a big impact on the gameplay, is that the sound that confirms a successful jump-throw will now be heard by other players nearby.

VacNet 3.0

Valve has also started testing a new version of its anti-cheat system, VacNet 3.0. The new system is currently being tested on a limited number of matches. If players believe that their match has been mistakenly canceled due to the anti-cheat, the developers ask them to send the details of the match to [email protected].

This update from Valve shows their serious intentions to fight cheaters and improve the quality of the game to ensure a fair and exciting gameplay experience for all players.
