B8 and Cloud9 qualify for IEM Rio 2024: European Qualifier

The second and last open qualifier for IEM Rio 2024 Europe Closed Qualifier is over, where more than 500 teams of different levels fought. B8 and Cloud9 qualified for the Closed Qualifiers and managed to qualify by winning the BO1 big grid format and winning the BO3 exit match.

Qualification details

The tournament was held in two days, where the second day is considered a good result for young teams and also more interesting matches happen on the second day. If the top teams that participated did not qualify for the second day, it can be considered a failure:

In the first round of the second day, ENCE unexpectedly lost to kONO with a score of 13-10 and KOI beat Gaimin Gladiators with a score of 13-7. More details of the Day 2 grid, can be seen below:

 
 

Closed Qualifications

A total of 8 teams will take part in the closed qualifications, where 4 from open qualification and 4 invited. The invitees include HEROIC, Falcons, Eternal Fire and 3DMAX, while from the open OG, Fnatic, B8 and Cloud9.

From the closed qualification there will be 2 teams that will fly to Brazil for the main tournament. Closed qualification will be held from August 26 to August 28, in online format.
