HooXi has been benched by G2 in one of the most predictable roster moves in recent history. 

There have been near-constant calls for the Dane’s head ever since G2’s failure to qualify for the IEM Rio Major way back in 2022, and even despite huge trophy wins at IEM Katowice 2022 and IEM Cologne 2023, those calls for his head never truly went away.

Certain analysts have now finally gotten their wish and he is off the team, but where could HooXi go in order to prove his naysayers wrong one final time? In this article, we’ll look at three potential new squads for the GigaChad and one team he definitely shouldn’t go to. 

The teams HooXi is a great fit for

Liquid

The most obvious potential landing spot for HooXi is Team Liquid, a team in dire need of an IGL in the wake of cadiaN’s benching.

“But why would Liquid go for another Danish IGL after it didn’t work with the previous one?” we hear you ask, and it’s simple: HooXi is far from the type of leader cadiaN is.

cadiaN is all about structure, he loves to have soldiers who will obey his command and listen to their orders regarding coordinated pushes and aggressions within certain mid-round situations. 

HooXi, however, is far looser with his calling. He is the type of leader who likes to let his stars shine as they choose to, and that could be perfect for the likes of Twistzz, NAF, and YEKINDAR. 

There is plenty of firepower on Liquid, so HooXi’s comparatively poor firepower wouldn’t be an issue, but as voo has recently shown on Twitter, HooXi’s fragging may never have truly been an issue anyway: 

Not only is HooXi a capable leader who would be well-suited to this Liquid team, his inclusion on the team would also prevent a need for Twistzz to take over IGLing while in the middle of some of the best form of his career, and that should be more important than anything.

fnatic recently made the blockbuster signing of blameF, but the big Dane won’t be enough to fire the legendary organisation back to the top. 

Initial results are solid, if not remarkable, and while the blame for that is often placed upon their misfiring French AWPer afro, this is some reason to place some doubts upon the leadership qualities of bodyy.

bodyy is a serviceable IGL who achieved reasonable results while learning the role within he French scene, but he isn’t the man to carry fnatic into the future. Instead, the three-time Major winning organisation should look to bring in HooXi. 

Of course, that would mean an end to bodyy’s time with fnatic, the two could not co-exist otherwise there would be the same firepower issues that existed with G2, but that isn’t really an issue.

The other big plus of bringing in HooXi is that he is already familiar with the role he would need to play in order to get the best out of blameF, too, as he was already doing the same thing of jumping around corners to his death on G2 to help out NiKo.

Okay, just hear us out - does anyone really expect Snax to succeed on G2?

Deep down we all know that the big man has only got the job because he used to be on a team with TaZ, and although the firepower issue may have been fixed because of his own better individual level and the arrival of malbsMd, a new issue has been created in terms of leadership.

Snax isn’t a great leader, GamerLegion’s T side win percentage is evidence enough for that, and GL were only really good on Overpass - a map they were good on with siuhy too, which probably says more about coach ash’s understanding of the map than it does Snax’s.

With the firepower issue of nexa and HooXi addressed, there was no real need to boot HooXi, especially if it wasn’t going to be for Perfecto with NiKo taking over as IGL as he did at IEM Dallas. 

HooXi achieved more than most IGLs could even dream of during his time with G2, and honestly, we don’t think it needed to end so soon, especially if the answer was Snax. 

Let’s see how it pans out, but we think it would be smart fro them to keep hold of HooXi in case the move for the Pole doesn’t work out. 

The team that should steer clear

Astralis

That brings us to Astralis, the somewhat viable candidate for HooXi who should stay well away from the former G2 man.

device’s decision to take over leadership duties on the Danish team was one that was met with heavy criticism at first, but those criticisms quickly stopped when the AWPer took to the role like a fish to water. 

Results immediately improved, and a lot of that was down to device’s system and the way it utilised the players in the way they were intended to be used, a far cry from blameF’s rotators-in-anchor-spots system that had denied the organisation a chance to appear in a home Major.

device is already proving himself to be one of the best IGLs in the world and the role hasn’t prevented him from putting up numbers either, contending for trophies truly does seem close, so why fix something that isn’t broken?
