Found the reason why shooting in CS2 seems unfamiliar — the subtick system is to blame

Users of the Reddit forum under the nicknames CheeseWineBread and TowelPitiful8354 discovered that the subtick system in Counter-Strike 2 could affect the shooting experience. They shared a video demonstrating this feature in slow motion.

In CS2, when a player presses the shoot button, the bullet flies in the direction where the sight was aimed at the moment of pressing this button. This happens even if the player managed to move the sight to another point after the shot. This is different from CS:GO, where gamers had some time after pressing the shoot button to adjust the sight. This feature has become especially noticeable when using the AWP sniper rifle.

One of the users also noted that the shooting animation lags behind the actual shot, and this is also related to the functioning of the subtick system. He explained: "In CS:GO, if your shot hit where the shooting animation began, then in CS2 your shot hits where you initially aimed the sight, but the animation waits for the next frame update (so-called tick rate)."

Valve announced CS2 in March 2023 and stated that the full release of the game is scheduled for the summer of the same year. However, at the moment, the game is still in limited testing. It is speculated that this might be related to different definitions of seasons in the United States and Europe. If so, the new version of the Valve shooter should be released in the next few days.
