In the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2024, Falcons defeated M80 2-0 to secure their place in the quarterfinals. This was the first face-to-face confrontation between the teams, and although Falcons were considered the favorites, the outcome of the match remained uncertain until the very end.
Pre-match expectations
This match was the first meeting between Falcons and M80 this year, which added to the intrigue and unpredictability. Falcons, having a good roster and not quite good results recently, were nominally considered favorites. However, the M80s could spring a surprise, which made this match especially interesting for the spectators.
Match details
The series started with M80 taking out Nuke and Falcons taking out Inferno, after which M80 chose Ancient as the first card. Falcons responded by picking Dust2 for the second map, with Anubis being the deciding map.
On Ancient Falcons quickly seized the initiative, especially on defense, securing an early lead. M80 failed to beat the Falcons defense and the map ended with a score of 13-9 in favor of the Falcons.
The second map, Dust2, proved to be more intense. M80 put up a decent resistance, but the Falcons showed composure in the decisive moments, winning 16-14 to close the series 2-0.
One of the interesting things was that the Falcons went to point A 11 times in 12 rounds of offense, which is amazing and probably one of the first in CS2.
Best player
Álvaro “SunPayus” García was the Falcons' best player with an impressive 40-24 score with K-D, showing his reliability in key moments of the match.
Next matchup
With this win, Falcons advance to the quarterfinals, where their opponent will be Complexity. M80, on the other hand, leave the tournament after earning $5000 for their efforts.
