The Steam marketplace has become a source of frustration for the CS2 community, with numerous users reporting ongoing performance issues. A recent post on Reddit titled "Steam Market is Shit" sparked a flood of comments from players facing slow load times, crashes, and difficulties when searching for in-game items.
The original post by Hanging-Umbrella568 highlighted that the marketplace had been "barely working" for months. Many users, like Ayzuzama, confirmed that the market’s performance has been poor for over a year. Despite various suggested workarounds, such as refreshing the page or reloading the search box, none of these solutions seem to provide consistent results for everyone.
One user, Fptmike, noted, “You don’t even have to click refresh, just keep clicking the little magnifying glass,” but others, including the original poster, stated that even these fixes failed to improve the situation.
Bots and Data Scrapers Blamed
Several users theorized that bots and data scrapers could be contributing to the overload on the Steam market. However, many feel that Valve, being a multi-billion-dollar company, should have the resources to fix these issues. One user, OverLord000, sarcastically commented that Valve would “rather you hit refresh for the rest of your life than spend money to handle the traffic.”
Frustration Extends Beyond the Marketplace
The conversation also extended to other CS2-related issues, with players criticizing Valve’s sub-tick system introduced in the latest update. While meant to improve latency and gameplay precision, many feel it hasn’t lived up to expectations. CoreyNeil pointed out that despite the investment, sub-tick seems to amplify latency differences instead of fixing them.

Valve’s Silence
Despite the growing complaints, Valve has yet to address the issues with the Steam market. For now, players continue to rely on workarounds and hope that Valve will eventually take action to resolve these long-standing problems.
The discussion continues on Reddit as the CS2 community voices its dissatisfaction with both the game’s infrastructure and the marketplace’s performance.
