SAW parts ways with their coach in CS2

Danny "BERRY" Krüger has left SAW after a three-month tenure as head coach. The departure comes just a day after Rafael "arrozdoce" Wing was benched, indicating significant changes within the Portuguese team.

BERRY's Farewell Statement

SAW announced BERRY's departure, citing "different views on methodology and team vision" as the reason. The separation was mutual, and both parties agreed it was the best option for future development.

BERRY, who led the team to their best result at IEM Cologne, placing 3rd-4th, expressed his gratitude to the players, the organization, and the Portuguese community.

I am still very motivated and from today, I am a free agent
said BERRY

Significant Phase for BERRY with the Team

BERRY's journey with SAW began in May. Initially hired temporarily, he took over the team in June at the BLAST Premier Spring Final, where they finished in last place. Despite this result, his contract was extended until the end of the year following the unexpected success at IEM Cologne, where SAW made it to the top four, marking a significant event for the Portuguese scene.

BERRY also assisted SAW in qualifying for the Perfect World Shanghai Europe RMR, securing a spot in the top 15 of the Valve world rankings for the first time in history.

SAW's Situation

Despite the initial success, recent months have been challenging for the team. SAW fell short in the CCT Season 2 Europe Series 11 and did not meet expectations at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024, despite being favorites in both tournaments.

Current SAW roster:

  • Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes
  • Ricardo "roman" Oliveira
  • João "story" Vieira
  • Michel "ewjerkz" Pinto
  • André "Ag1l" Gil

Community Reaction

I can only say good things about this person! It was a pleasure being your coach, hope you quickly find a new home! He’s one of the best in the business, just find him quickly!

Whatever the situation, the bad guys are always the same. If I speak, I'm a bad professional. If I stay silent, we create a narrative and say SAW poorly chose the timing. Do you think anyone in their right mind would want to be in such a situation before a major event? We're in the position we're in, and we’ll try our best to approach the upcoming tournaments in the best shape.

Besides arrozdoce's remarks, other fans also expressed sadness over the coach's departure. Just as the team started to show results, they are parting with the coach. Everyone misses him, thanks him for the time he spent in the organization, and wishes him luck in the future.
