Rumors: Valve plans to remove configs in CS2 and the ability to edit them manually via Notepad

Today on a popular podcast, renowned host Chad 'SPUNJ' Burchill revealed that according to unofficial sources and statements from professionals, Valve are considering removing configs in Counter-Strike 2 and banning manual editing via notepad.

SPUNJ about the possible removal of cfg from CS2:

They [Valve] will do it. I'm almost 100% sure. They want your settings to be transferred to another computer.

On the one hand, Valve is committed to making CS2 more appealing to newcomers, which is important for the growth of the gaming community. However, this comes at the expense of some features and customizations that have long been utilized by experienced players. For example, options such as left weapon model and cl_bob values are no longer available through the in-game developer console.

He was also supported in the live chat by FaZe Clan player Robin 'ropz' Kool, who wrote the following:

Yeah, they probably delete the cfg files, and that's the kicker, rumor has it.

Configuration files, known as "cfg", are an important tool for players. They allow settings, command lists, and more to be saved in a file that can be executed within the game with a special command. This allows players to transfer their customizations between different computers, run a set of commands to practice on game servers, and more.
