BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 RMR in Europe, Asia, and America started on April 6. The long-awaited qualification for the last CS:GO Major has begun. The tournament organizer decided not to stop making an unusual cup for the year's main tournament but also to change the interface from vertical to horizontal. Almost immediately, the disadvantages of such a decision became noticeable, and we summed up viewers' opinions to understand what was wrong with the new HUD from BLAST.
Hands and grenades

One of the most frequent complaints was that the position of hands and weapons (viewmodel) with a horizontal HUD was not visible. And the point is not that athletes' expensive skins or gloves have become less visible, but rather what kind of grenade they are holding at one moment or another. Such a nuance complicates the reading of information from the screens for spectators, especially in tense moments of one or another round, where the observer often switches between players, for example, during entry to the bomb site.
I feel like I'm missing information and action because of this new BLAST HUD. It is good that they try to do something differently, but in this case, it will take a lot of work to get used to it.Finn Karrigan Andersen
Overload with animations
The second negative moment is the animation of the received damage. Yes, they look impressive when a sniper "clicks" his frags one by one. However, you can't say the same about large-scale batches of 3 by 3, for example. In such situations, it is clear that the damage animations in the new interface are too expressive and visually clutter the feed.

Stats or money?

Since the interface became smaller, fitting all the information became more challenging. First of all, it concerns the statistics of players and their money. Data with player earnings and the number of kills/deaths cyclically change each other every few seconds, which did not please a significant number of viewers. The cycling of these metrics should be enabled only for dead players. If this were the only problem of the horizontal interface, it would be possible to put up with it, but many minor flaws eventually form a giant snowball.
BLAST's desire to make the Major and RMR an unforgettable spectacle is commendable and understandable, especially since this is the last tournament of this level in CS:GO. On the other hand, the picture is that these are just changes for the sake of changes, and the harm from this is more than the good. Perhaps BLAST will return the previous interface before Major in Paris and refresh it. However, if the organizers insist on their point, it remains to be hoped that they will consider esports fans' wishes.
