Ukraine Sanctioned HellRaisers, Parimatch, GGBET.ru, WePlay Media Holding, and Russian Bookmakers

HellRaiser, Parimatch, GGBET.ru. BetBoom and other betting companies were banned from operating in Ukraine for 50 years, their assets were blocked, licenses were revoked, and now there is a ban on transferring technologies, objects of intellectual property rights, etc. The decision was made by the National Security and Defense Council and put into effect by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Will NAVI lose a sponsor?

No, the sponsor of NAVI is not GGBET.ru, which belongs to the prohibited "Bet.Ru" LLC, but GG.bet, registered in Cyprus, which Brivio Limited, registered in Cyprus too, manages.

As for HellRaisers (with the same legal registration as sponsor Natus Vincere), they closed the CS:GO team at the beginning of 2022 due to financial problems after the start of the war in Ukraine. So now the club has only a Russian Dota 2 team. The organization has not yet commented on the situation.

The situation with WePlay

WePlay Media Holding Limited was also included in the list of sanctioned companies. In the statement of WePlay Esports, it is said that they have no relationship with this company and that it was transferred to the JKR investment holding (which includes PM) in 2019 as part of the termination of cooperation. WePlay Esports' representatives also specified that they don't cooperate with companies from the Russian Federation and Belarus.

Possible consequences

Since Parimatch has also been sanctioned, streamers, start-up teams, and content makers in Ukraine, who often had sponsorship deals with this bookmaker, may be forced to have other funding sources. How quickly the categories above of the esports community will be able to find an alternative sponsor during the war and shrinking budgets is an open question.
