Today, many news resources that cover Counter-Strike 2 have started forcing information about why players do not actually hit the target, when visually it can be seen that the bullet passes through the opponent.
But first of all we need to understand one thing, and that is what hitboxes are.
- Hitboxes in Counter-Strike 2 are invisible three-dimensional areas around characters and objects in the game, which determine when a bullet or other projectile hits a target. These areas allow you to determine if an attack hit a game character and, if so, with what part of the body.
- In CS2, hitboxes are categorized into different zones such as head, body, arms, and legs. Each zone has a different size and shape, and it has different damage characteristics. For example, a hit to the head usually does more damage than a hit to the body or limbs.
Now let's get back to the point. The whole point is that hitboxes in CS2 work very crookedly. The hitbox breaks most of all when setting a bomb, running or crouching. This is where all the problems stemming from the lack of hit registration come from.
When testing hitboxes via the "bot_mimic" and "ent_hitbox" commands, it turned out that the hitbox is VERY different from the player model. Now we suggest you just take a look at the video and photos below and understand everything even better.
As we can see hitboxes do move in space VERY strangely. This is what prevents you from hitting the head, because visually on your screen you are aiming at the head, but on the server you just did not hit the hitbox.
A visual demonstration of this fact is provided in this video below:
Recall that the game developers consider the game ready for the big cybersport and already on September 27 made the official release of CS2, thus ending the era of CS:GO!
The first tournament on CS:Strike 2 will start already on October 16, 2023, under the name — Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023!
