The American organization Complexity, following a disappointing performance at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, has begun making changes to its CS2 roster. Today, it was announced that core player Ricky "floppy" Kemery will move to the inactive roster after three years with the club, while assistant coach James "JamezIRL" Macaulay is leaving the team.
Farewell to members and reasons behind the decision
Today, Complexity's official social media channels shared two announcements regarding the current changes to their CS2 roster. According to the posts, Ricky "floppy" Kemery is moving to the inactive roster, with the organization committing to assist him in finding a new home, while the assistant coach is immediately becoming a free agent.
Although not officially stated, it is likely that the reason for parting ways with the players stems from the team's performance at the recent Major. Complexity finished 3rd-5th in the American RMR, qualifying for the year’s final major tournament, the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. However, the team’s results at the Major were underwhelming. Complexity failed to advance from the Opening Stage, and after losing to BIG with a score of 1-2, they exited the event in 17th-19th place, earning $10,000 in prize money.
The history of floppy's collaboration with Complexity
This news has left fans of the team saddened, as floppy has been one of Complexity’s key players over the past three years. He joined the team at the start of 2022, alongside other former players from Extra Salt, whose roster was acquired by the organization. Since then, floppy has been a core member of the team and helped Complexity secure several podium finishes at major tournaments. These include 3rd-4th place at BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023, 2nd place at Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2023, and 1st place at BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023. However, during 2024, floppy and the team achieved only one podium finish, winning ESL Challenger at DreamHack Summer 2024.
