"Fans are the 6th player": apEX on the role of support at BLAST Spring Finals

In anticipation of the BLAST Spring FinalsRushB Media interviewed Vitality in-game leader Dan "apEX" Madesclaire. He talked about recent setbacks, the current state of the team, and the outlook for the tournament.

When asked about feelings after losing to IEM Dallas in the finals, apEX said that the team is really disappointed to have lost two consecutive finals in a row. He added that the players are determined to give their best and bring the trophy home despite the fatigue. This will be especially important for Mezii, who is playing on home soil for the first time.

When asked about how Mezii's presence can affect the team, apEX compared the fans to a 12th player in soccer and a 6th player in CS. He emphasized that the support of the crowd really helps, especially in difficult moments. apEX expressed his hopes of making the playoffs so that the crowd supports them and Mezii can play in front of his family and loved ones.

Speaking about the main opponents in the tournament, apEX highlighted several teams, including FaZe, who despite their recent struggles are always strong contenders. He also mentioned Spirit, who despite their problems after Katowice, remain dangerous thanks to player Donk. In addition, G2, who won Dallas with a replacement player, are also a threat. apEX also mentioned the difficulty of playing against Virtus.Pro and NAVI despite their recent problems. He emphasized that most of the teams in the tournament are very strong and it is difficult to predict the winner.

When asked about plans and expectations for the second half of the year, apEX stated that the team aims to win big trophies and be the best. He reminded that Vitality was the best team in the world in 2023 and they want to repeat that success despite the remaining months of the season.

At the end of BLAST Premier: Spring Final, Vitality finished in 3rd-4th place along with Virtus.Pro. Vitality lost in the group to Virtus.Pro and knocked G2 out of the tournament in the bottom set. In the playoff stage they knocked out FaZe and then lost to Spirit.
