ESL has stated that they do not plan to abandon tournaments on the current version of CS:GO immediately after the game is released on the Source 2 engine.
Our tournaments will continue to use CS:GO until it is reasonable to move to the rumored Counter-Strike 2
Dot Esports journalists also contacted BLAST, but the company replied that they have nothing to say/add on this topic.
Most likely, if Counter-Strike on Source 2 does not bring many changes and bugs, the transition to it may be quick - within a month or two. Large tournament operators switch to a new, more or less significant update, for example, with a new map, in about such terms.
However, if Counter-Strike is almost a fundamentally new game, the migration of esports from CS:GO may continue for a whole year, as it was with the release of the current version of the game in 2012. The first major then took 15 months.
